-BV Moss Green Velvet Coat
The majority of the coat is covered with moss green full-grain reverse-velvet leather. The surface has a matte, vintage look; it feels soft and smooth without being rigid.
All the distinctive features are concentrated at the collar—a black Intrecciato handknit leather collar that creates a dual contrast between material and color with the green velvet surface.
Two elements are combined in one garment: a stylish American vintage velvet baseball coat, and BV’s handmade knitted accessories.
The full-grain reverse-velvet leather has a delicate velvet texture, making it soft yet not stiff. The thickness is moderate, providing a natural weight and drape. It doesn’t pile up when worn, but it also isn’t too tight-fitting. The silhouette remains well-defined. The color is a deep moss green, neither bright green nor military green, but rather a vintage green with a grayish tint. Depending on the lighting, it can appear either dark brown or dark green, creating a layered effect.
The collar is entirely made of Intrecciato handknit leather, with fine strips interwoven to create a regular diamond pattern. The knitted collar has a smooth surface, creating a contrast between the smooth texture of the coat and the matte velvet underneath. The color is pure black, creating a cool contrast to the moss green. The knitting covers a large area, dominating the visual center of the shoulders and neck when the collar is turned up, making it a highly recognizable feature of the coat.
Inside, there’s a black-and-white checkered lining, crafted with great care. The front zipper opens, with a silver metal tie at the zipper head. The cuffs are made of velvet with a fold, secured by a dark-colored four-hole button. The hem is a deep brown ribbed knit, providing good elasticity and creating a color transition with the green of the coat.
The short baseball coat has a relaxed fit, with sleeves that hang over the shoulders, creating a natural sense of shoulder stacking. The cut is loose, not too tight but not too baggy either. There are two vertical pockets on the front, keeping things simple without overshadowing the main features of the coat. The back is left plain with a horizontal seam across the shoulders. The length is slightly shorter, reaching near the waistline, making the legs appear longer.
Moss green is a color that captures the essence of autumn and winter. Paired with a black high-neck sweater and black straight trousers, it creates a monochrome look. The velvet and knit fabrics add layers to the design, while the knitted collar serves as the only highlight of the outfit.
